Shot some bts. No not hyperlapse, they really knot in this speed.

Each koodai takes meticulous effort to be knotted perfectly.. From measuring, cutting, knotting, finishing it to perfection there is so much work that goes, design, calculations, precision.. Years of practice for these ladies to be able to knot at this speed, towards the end you can see me knotting in hyperlapse, because I am still a learner, not like these pros.

This was an order given by someone who later realised it was too big for them to use, soon we might have a note on policies of ordering a Koodai both at the center and online. Especially at the center because our Akkas explain as much as they can but they've not learnt to say no..We don't take advances for single orders, all of this is operated out of trust.

It is very easy for customers, however well meaning to place an order and later dismiss by saying wrong size, wrong knot, I expected something else. But pls be mindful that we could've used this time for creating orders that are pending. More than anything, it's not ethical to do this.

Worked on a bunch of koodais which are very "summer", starting with this very coral pink, Madras has lovely pockets of greenery and my area in one such. So many Bougainville creepers all over and this particular colour is just so refreshing.
Hues of teal, blue and purple to give the pink an elevation.

Yesterday I had the privilege to go back as a speaker to the Alumni kondattam of TFI.

I did a session on Entrepreneurship in the social sector and I spoke about working with communities, about building a business with ethical practices, about fair wages, the good, the not so good and difficult parts of being a first-time entrepreneur, the journey from teaching to entrepreneurship.

While all this is new even to me, this helped me reflect on how my skills accumulated over the years has compounded.

Building Wire Kadai ground up has been fulfilling, rewarding, and yet taxing. Handling procurement , designs, maintaining stocks, accounts, packaging, delivery, stalls, building the muscle for bulk orders, negotiations, taking rejections, saying NO (hardest), finding new avenues and audiences while maintaining a frugal budget and list is endless.

Bringing product differentiation in something that is very commoditised has been a very fascinating journey and I am always thrilled about the nostalgic memories people associated with the koodais and chairs we make, nostalgia is a powerful tool and it has been such a driving force behind what I am building.

Teaching and engaging an audience always comes naturally but talking about building a business from scratch? this was not in my bingo card.

I did something very new but in a very comfortable setting, I am not sure how many of you know but I did my teaching fellowship with @teachforindia many moons ago (Cohort 2013) and was in the education sector for a very long time.
